bathing suit trends 2010: polka dots

Hi everyone! This post is about the black and white polka dot bikini trend. I've seen this trend everywhere lately, and there are many variations of it. I have some tips on how to pick which one is the most flattering for your body shape.

The key to looking fabulous in any pattern is to make sure the size of the pattern is proportionate to your body size. If you are on the slimmer side, smaller polka dots (like in the first picture) would be the most flattering. If you are curvier, bigger polka dots (like in the last picture) would be the most flattering.
You should also make sure the bottom is proportionate to your hips. If you have wider hips like I do, look for bottoms with wider waistbands (like in the picture below) or thicker side-ties (like in the picture above), because those styles will be the most flattering and proportionate for your shape.

If you have narrower hips and want to create the illusion of more curves, look for details like ruffles (like in the picture below). This will give your hips a curvier look without overwhelming your shape.
You can find the bikinis in the first three pictures at Victoria's Secret, and you can find the bikini in the last one at Roxy. I hope these tips are helpful! Feel free to leave comments!
